Hosting World’sNext Top Model 2014 On MTV

I was chosen by MTV Lebanon to host the biggest event in the region honoring outstanding models from around the world and that is MTV’s World’sNext Top Model 2014.

The preparations for the hosting started with meeting the girls and the jury a few days before the show. Also pacing the MTV stage to get familiar. I always want to be comfortable with the surroundings on stage to be able to be spontaneous and myself during the show, owning the stage was a must because there was no room for error.

The event was amazing, full of excitement and suspense. In such a big and carefully organized event, there are sponsors that dress the competitors and also the hosts, but as usual I preferred to dress myself which was a decision fully supported by MTV producers knowing my style and fashion sense that shows in AghaniAghani and previous events.

The dress was not easy to choose, I had to be careful to choose something decent that will not trigger the audience and respect TV’s dos and don’ts being the face of MTV for this event.

It was a challenge to pick the dress, I had to go with something attractive but not provocative, sexy but not offensive, something elegant and classy, controversial enough to be noticed and draw attention but not overshadow the event.

I finally decided on a safe black dress that has a high neck line, with black dentelle, I added a tulle to amplify the princess aspect of the dress also to add movement and volume. I wore golden close Louboutin shoes that went along perfectly. I kept a natural makeup with nude lips and my hair was in a lift hairdo.

The hosting with Kays went smoothly, chemistry and comfort were obvious. I received many positive reviews complimenting my dress and my handling of the event. I felt proud to have handled this challenge with ease on a fashion level and professional level, it was such a fruitful experience.

Stephanie Saliba At BIAF 2014

I had the honor to be invited to the event of the year: BIAF 2014; which is a unique festival that introduces distinguished personalities and figures that have had a special and unique mark in communities and fields all over the world.

I was so excited to be part of such an important event, but it was just my luck that it happened to be on the same night that I had an episode of Aghani Aghani on MTV Lebanon, but that was certainly not going to stop me. I wrapped up the episode and went in a hurry to the dressing room and got myself ready and headed straight to Zaytuna Bay where the event was held in the heart of Downtown.

I cloned myself or appeared from nowhere, no one expected me to juggle both work and the event but yet I did it, I felt a certain satisfaction to have been able to achieve that “mission impossible”.

For such a marvelous event, the dress was to be chosen with care, that is why I went with a classy long backless dress, that complimented my body perfectly to make it sexy and attractive. I chose the daring red color with a matching shiny golden Louboutin shoes. I’m a big fan of keeping things natural no matter the event, so I had light makeup and natural hair.

A wide media & PR campaign was carefully selected for the festival and a royal reception was held for the honorees who attended the event, including the red carpet that was nothing less than the ones held in international festivals with full interviews and interaction with the journalists , plus the wall of fame for pictures to be taken in a neat matter.

I was so astonished with the attention to details and the whole organizing of the event, I loved how everything went according to plan.

What is special about BIAF is shedding light on people who are behind the scenes, like directors rather than just actors, composers rather than singers, and producers rather than presenters. I caught myself getting emotional seeing everyone feeling appreciated for their hard work, which I see as a necessity for progress in any field.

This night was such a roller coaster but definitely worth it.

The first outfit: “L’Africana À La Stephanie”

I named it “L’Africana” because of the tissue that I used. Having lived in Africa for quite some time, I have been fascinated by their traditional printed outfits.

Since my family still lives there at the moment, I asked my sister to send me this lovely red and black printed fabric.

This fabric being a painting by itself, I worked on a design to compliment it. The high wasted long skirt is so in style right now so I just added a one leg side opening to give the illusion of a dress and chose a perfectly heard shaped corset to give it a sexy look.

I picked these 2 colors for the beautiful contrast they make and because I fell I love with the vivid red color that screams out with the dark black.

I wanted to focus on the character of the outfit with the question “What kind of woman can wear such a dress?” always in mind, and make it something that a strong confident sexy yet elegant woman would wear.

Passion for Fashion : “À la Stephanie”

Ever dreamed of designing your own clothes and wearing your own creations? I know I did….
In fact, I grew up sewing Barbie dresses and playing dress up.
Most girls, design their prom or wedding gowns, but why wait for occasions to showcase the Creative person in you. We all dream of wearing that perfect short backless party dress or long for that 50s ladylike look but cant seem to find that printed mid-length skirt in any store.

I believe that clothes are a reflection of who you are and how you plan your outfit tells a lot about you, that‘s why I have decided to start creating and wearing my own pieces designed by me.

Every piece will have a part of me, that’s why the line will be named “À la Stephanie”.

Making my own clothes could really bring my ideas to life. Not to forget the added beauty of knowing that my outfit is unique and no one else will be wearing the same.

I did some drawing, I went on a search for Fabrics, and took the first step.

BE YOURSELF everyone else is already taken

While the title may sum it all, but it is actually a book by Mike Robbins.

9781423376026

It’s an empowering and refreshing book that reminds us that each of us has a unique purpose to fulfill in this world. Since we are living in a world where it became nearly impossible to distinguish between what is real and what is fake, this powerful book teaches you how to access and express the realness you crave in your work, your relationships, and yourself.

It is a clear guide to get in touch with yourself and to learn to love the person that you are. Robbins talks about 5 principles to celebrate one’s self and understand that we are spiritual beings first. This book frees you from society’s influences and pressures to simply be your true self. I strongly recommend it.

5 Tips On How To Spend Your Money While Shopping

  1. When shopping think of “Investment”, most of us, and me included, often go shopping when bored, but usually end up with clothes that never leave the closet. Don’t buy a pair of jeans that are tight thinking that they will “loosen up” later on and then never wear them again, or a top that your friends liked but you weren’t comfortable in. Any item that you buy and not wear is a lost investment.

  1. Accessories: it’s no place for saving, the most common mistake is when people go for cheap accessories thinking that they are not as important as the clothes, however, quality accessories spice up the outfit and add glam. Make sure that your accessories are good quality so they don’t make your look tacky.

  1. Good basics are important, but with a specific budget, Don’t spend much money on basics like tees, since they wear out quickly; a trench coat and a pair of boots on the other hand, is something that will last. Spending time and money to find the perfect coat or the perfect blazer is worth it.

  1. Pick your designer items carefully! If you want to buy printed long/short dresses, tops, or shorts, there is no need to go for brands because they all look the same. If you’re going to have one designer item, make it your handbag or your shoes, a good handbag makes your whole outfit look better.

  1. Don’t be afraid of going all in on the shoes, bad shoes can strongly influence your image, as for cheap looking shoes can make your party dress look trashy. So wait for the sale if you have to, but buy the right shoes because no matter how expensive your dress is, cheap shoes will make it lose spark.
