Little Red Dress

Winter is already dreary and grey enough as it is ! As much as there is love for a classic all-black ensemble, adding bright pops of color will keep your spirit high during the season’s coldest months.
Since Red is the color of love and Valentine’s is only days away, for yesterday’s show I wore red,to balance such a bright hue I paired it with classic suede Louboutin

Why I love Cross Bags…

Hello lovelies, I am sorry I have been off for a while, but I was so busy with a new project that I am preparing for…

IMG_7325“Must have Chanel cross body black bag for formal and casual occasions it would look really nice with a pair of jeans”

Today’s blog is about why I love cross-bags. I sort of always wanted to write about this topic and this season is absolutely the right time.

“Classic Yves Saint Laurent cross bag suitable for a party”

Cross-bags are the perfect accessory for hands free Christmas shopping. You don’t want to go shopping with a big bag that weights 10 kilos. I recently read an article on how women can actually use it’s heavy bag to do some training…but still, please let’s leave those triceps and biceps exercises for the gym. Cross-bags distribute the weight of the bag over all the body instead of centralizing it on one shoulder and causing back pains.

Moreover oversized bags are on my black list for short girls. If you’re short, I highly recommend small cross-bags that fit proportionally with your body.

Investing in a cross-bag is a wise decision. As shown by past trends, cross-bags fashion did not die out and will never do.

Further more, cross-bags are the only bags you can buy in loud colors. Personally Most of my big bags are in pastel hue or black because imagine a big red bag!!! However a tiny cross-bag alongside your chest in red would be flawless. Chanel cross-bags in neon green were a hit this season.

“Sparkling Dior cross body bag this season’s latest trends”

So a cross bag is a must have in your closet. It could be worn casually or if going to a party. Cross bags are faultless if you are on a trip or attending a concert…on my last trip to Rome I couldn’t been more thankful for having a cross bag that fits under my coat on those long cold sightseeing walks….

A Furry Season!

Outerwear is one of the most important statement pieces in any wardrobe. But which trends will drive sales this season?
IMG_7063
Through its visually distinctive properties and timeless appeal, fur is making a huge comeback in designer collections for Fall/Winter 2014-15.
IMG_7066
While fur was introduced to fashion in the 1950s in form of long coats, today we find shorter jackets and funkier patterns of furs on the runway, in addition to the availability of fur in different colors and shapes 🙂

So make sure you have your dose of fur this season!!

Keratin straightening : the good and the bad….

A friend of mine called me two days ago taking my opinion whether she does keratin treatment for her hair or not. She lives abroad, in a remote area and  she is a working mother , so she doesn’t have much time to go to a salon and have her hair done.
Keratin technique or what is also known as Brazilian straightening guarantees a straight hair for a period of approximately six months. When it comes to keratin we all have so many unanswered interrogations. Is it healthy ? Does it dry out hair ? What will be the condition of the hair after six month ?
keratin sacramento
During the six month period, your hair will start growing and it will become curly from the roots. Once the treatment is gone your hair will not come back the same . You will loose those wavy curls and you will have a straight lifeless dull hair unless you relax it from straightening for a very long period. You will then understand what your friends with natural straight hair always complained about .

Add to that, keratin is safe for your hair , yes. For the  rest of your body, not very much . When heated , some keratin treatments release a dangerous level of “formaldehyde” , a carcinogen that can cause Instant burning and irritation in your eyes and nose.

Still want a treatment ?
Make sure the salon is very well ventilated and the hairdresser is aware and knowledgeable of the process.

Everyday is Red….

Life is too short so put on your red Chanel (a Samoa lipstick will also do the job ;)) and start your day with a touch of glamor and power. Make red not only your date for clubs and weddings, but also your best friend for lunches, brunches and daily occasions.

When red lipstick was first launched it was worn for lunches and daily events and rarely ( I emphasize on rarely ) for dinners!

Take Time to choose your perfect red . Usually when you buy a red over the counter they always tend to give you the flashy famous red and it may not suit you. Choose a shade of red that suits not only your skin tone but also your hair color, your eyes and your overall outfit. Yes, red lipstick is not a black dress, you can go wrong with it and end up looking like a clown .Therefore, contour is not old fashion, use a red color one to mark your lips then apply your Matt lipstick.

My red lipstick for this season is dark red, I am currently using my Mac viva glam which is a moderate red shade, not very dark and not so bright that gives a perfect warm winter look.

A natural Blonde to dye for….

For a natural blonde , my answer is three words: Take baby steps.
If your hair is cocoa colored like most Lebanese women it’s going to take a lot to get to Marilyn Monroe golden blonde.
IMG_6585
Stephanie Saliba
So to begin with, It’s best to make small adjustments for your hair to adapt: Choose a shade brighter then your color by a degree, go for low light, baby-lights, pastel hues, bronde (brown blonde) sombre or ombré .
IMG_6572

Because trust me, jumping from Angelina Jolie to lady gaga is not easy. Besides having to let go of brad Pitt and thickening your eyeliner your hair will look like a wig.
IMG_6575

You need to give yourself and the people around you time to accept your new blond version .
Moreover when it comes to hair Dying , I have this huge slogan in my head that says “kids don’t try this at home” . Choose a reputable salon that uses good quality products .Add to that,  A week before dying it ,you should use a clarifying shampoo to remove oils and build ups that interfere with the dying.  Blonde is tricky and yes you can become miss orange head in just few minutes. ( we’ve all been there and we definitely spent too much tears on it) .

My advice for the season is go for warm blonde, either ombré or strawberry blonde. Yes “California style” ombré has been the hit trend for more then three years now but It’s still my favorite. What’s best then keeping your natural root color while embracing light for the rest of your hair ?

The power of MONDAY…

A Monday resolution….
So who of us hasn’t heard these famous lines “I will start my diet on Monday” or ” I will sleep with my makeup on today and i will start taking care of my skin just after the weekend“.

Lifestyle blogger “Stephanie Saliba”
Well yes , we all do push things just another day and usually to Monday, but don’t underestimate The Magical Power of Monday! Monday has always had a bad reputation, have you ever heard someone complaining about Friday for instance ? We all thank God it’s Friday and yes TGIF every week but if you want to initiate a change researchers have showed that Monday is the right day to start…..
It’s a fresh day, a new beginning and let’s face it, it makes goals more realistic when they are set on Monday; it’s not a list of New Years resolution that you will just forget about it around mid January. I really believe that if you can change a habit for a day means you can change it permanently . I am going to be launching a “Monday campaign” where I will be writing each week a #mondayresolution concerning all aspects of fashion, beauty tips and health to consider for the week…..
you can find the resolutions on the following Hashtags #ThankGoditsMonday #ThePowerofnow #ThePowerofMonday #mondaycampaign #startfresh #keepcalmandlovemonday #EveryMondaymatters #enjoythemondaymadness

My Midi Cloche Skirt

One Of the must haves for this Spring-Summer season is the “cloche skirt”. I made this skirt with a weird fabric mixing between satin and tafta, giving it a distinguished shiny and fluffy aspect. It is a mix between cold and warm colors making it match with all kinds of accessories.

It reflects the color of the top that you are wearing and making it possible to have a whole different outfit just by changing your top. This skirt suits all types of bodies, but make sure to wear a slim fit top to highlight the waist and show the cloche effect, and I advise to stay away from the flats.

It is casual, sexy and elegant, dare to wear it even if you have a very practical life, since it is comfy and it doesn’t need a special occasion

Stephanie Saliba At BIAF 2014

I had the honor to be invited to the event of the year: BIAF 2014; which is a unique festival that introduces distinguished personalities and figures that have had a special and unique mark in communities and fields all over the world.

I was so excited to be part of such an important event, but it was just my luck that it happened to be on the same night that I had an episode of Aghani Aghani on MTV Lebanon, but that was certainly not going to stop me. I wrapped up the episode and went in a hurry to the dressing room and got myself ready and headed straight to Zaytuna Bay where the event was held in the heart of Downtown.

I cloned myself or appeared from nowhere, no one expected me to juggle both work and the event but yet I did it, I felt a certain satisfaction to have been able to achieve that “mission impossible”.

For such a marvelous event, the dress was to be chosen with care, that is why I went with a classy long backless dress, that complimented my body perfectly to make it sexy and attractive. I chose the daring red color with a matching shiny golden Louboutin shoes. I’m a big fan of keeping things natural no matter the event, so I had light makeup and natural hair.

IMG_6944

A wide media & PR campaign was carefully selected for the festival and a royal reception was held for the honorees who attended the event, including the red carpet that was nothing less than the ones held in international festivals with full interviews and interaction with the journalists , plus the wall of fame for pictures to be taken in a neat matter.

I was so astonished with the attention to details and the whole organizing of the event, I loved how everything went according to plan.

What is special about BIAF is shedding light on people who are behind the scenes, like directors rather than just actors, composers rather than singers, and producers rather than presenters. I caught myself getting emotional seeing everyone feeling appreciated for their hard work, which I see as a necessity for progress in any field.

This night was such a roller coaster but definitely worth it.

The first outfit: “L’Africana À La Stephanie”

I named it “L’Africana” because of the tissue that I used. Having lived in Africa for quite some time, I have been fascinated by their traditional printed outfits.

Since my family still lives there at the moment, I asked my sister to send me this lovely red and black printed fabric.

This fabric being a painting by itself, I worked on a design to compliment it. The high wasted long skirt is so in style right now so I just added a one leg side opening to give the illusion of a dress and chose a perfectly heard shaped corset to give it a sexy look.

I picked these 2 colors for the beautiful contrast they make and because I fell I love with the vivid red color that screams out with the dark black.

I wanted to focus on the character of the outfit with the question “What kind of woman can wear such a dress?” always in mind, and make it something that a strong confident sexy yet elegant woman would wear.
